Welcome to the Durango Education Foundation Fellows Program

Today’s educators are expected to cover a daunting breadth of topics, so they welcome volunteers with focused expertise to provide classroom or program enrichment. The Durango Education Foundation Fellows program connects Durango School District 9-R educators with community members willing to share knowledge and time with students. Educators may invite Fellows to speak to a class, provide a demonstration, work with individuals or small groups, serve as a subject advisor or assist with an activity or specific project. A Fellow’s business might even choose to adopt an entire class and follow them through from grade to grade or adopt a specific educator’s classroom from year to year. Fellows may contribute professional or avocational expertise—whatever area a Fellow is qualified and willing to share with eager learners and grateful educators.

The Fellows Directory is accessible to all 9-R educators, and D.E.F. acts program administrator. The listings provide basic information, but D.E.F. does not certify a Fellow’s qualifications; we strongly encourage educators to establish via an interview that a Fellow will be a good match for the program or classroom. Educators are also responsible for making sure that the Fellow has the appropriate Durango 9-R access permissions before welcoming the Fellow into the classroom or program (see 9-R Security page for more detail).
